Scent of the Day: Plum Blossom by Jo Malone Fragrance Review

Jo Malone Plum Blossom Fragrance Review

Our scent of the day is an interpretation of the plum blossom by Jo Malone. This gives us sharp, bright, and crisp plum blossoms with a background of musk and sandalwood. This is very floral and feminine, perfect for a spring or summer day date. This fragrance is reminiscent to Chloe, but without the emphasis on rose. It is delightful, simple, and soft for an everyday summer scent. It can work for any occasion from date nights to office wear. A versatile floral fragrance that sits on your skin like a veil. Never fully clothing your body, but adding it’s own floral flare here and there.

This is a cologne, so it won’t last hours and hours. Some spritzing throughout the day or layering with another fragrance is highly recommended. This works well to tone down other scents that may be too sweet or syrupy for summer wear. Plum blossom adds a burst of fresh, sharp florals that are sure to make it feel a little more like summer.

Scent of the Day: My Voyage by Nautica Perfume Review

My Voyage by Nautica Perfume Review

This is a bit of an oldie, released back in 2007. If you like clean, light, airy, inoffensive fragrances then this may be a great addition to your summer fragrance wardrobe. This will keep you smelling fresh and clean without every being obtrusive or overbearing. It is one of those scents that is more reminiscent of a lovely, light home candle or clean body lotion than an actual perfume. Not everyone likes to smell of heavy perfume and leave a trail of their scent, and this is perfect for those who don’t. A clean scent for the office or just a spritzer for a quick pick me up in the morning.

This is a like a fresh bar of soap with lightly sweet nuances and touches of citrus and floral. Lime and bergamot are prominent, but are toned down by peony and amber, never being too citrusy or bitter. The beginning gives you that fresh, clean feeling like you’ve just stepped out of the shower and once it is toned down by the woody-floral notes it becomes a bit cuddly and warm. Although, it never strays from being a light and airy scent. It is a skin scent that smells like you, but better!

Scent of the Day: M7 Oud Absolu by Yves Saint Laurent Fragrance Review

M7 Oud Absolu by YSL Fragrance Review

Our scent of the day is one that brings forth a representation of exotic incenses and a deep, sweet oud. A masculine scent that is dry and smokey, but has just a pinch of sweetness. This takes the original M7 and tones the sweet, syrupy notes down and strengthens the oud. This is oriental, sensual, sweet, dry, and classy in one. When we think of reformulations, we usually gasp at the thought of ruining another beautiful fragrance. Although, this one really works well with the skin and we believe it to be the better half all around. If you were disappointed that the first version was a little to intense or dripping in sweetness, then you may find better luck with this gem.

M7 Oud Absolu opens with sharp mandarin oranges and patchouli settles in the heart. You get an earthy-flowery scent from the labdanum which lies alongside the pleasant scent of myrrh and the dominant note of oud. This is quite masculine, but with its sweetness, we could also see this working for a woman. It is masculine with class and sophistication, but could also be a sexy, dark scent on woman who finds oud notes pleasant. Give it a try and tell us what you think! Remember leaving a review earns you 10 reward points to use towards a future order 🙂

Top 10 Sizzling Summer Scents 2015 by Portia APJ

Hey My Perfume Samples Crew,

I’m Portia from Australian Perfume Junkies, Perfume Posse and Olfactoria’s Travels and really excited to help you find some new fragrances that may appeal to you that are available on one of my favourite Perfume Sample Sites. I hope to bring you some great information, maybe some fragrant ideas that you can use in your daily life, a selection of my favourite fragrances from the site and great ways and times to wear them.

If you like the look of something click the My Perfume Samples below the picture, it will take you directly to that perfumes page for more information, pricing and ordering.

Portia’s Sizzling Summer Scents 2015

Top 10 SIzzling Summer

Summer is upon the Northern Hemisphere and we thought it a good time to look at some of the fun stuff you may have overlooked in your search for the perfect Summer 2015 scent. We have purposely chosen some of the best stuff that has flown largely under the radar so if you do choose to sample them you won’t be smelling like everyone around you.

Bottega Veneta Essence Aromatique by Bottega Veneta MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Bottega Veneta Essence Aromatique by Bottega Veneta: One of the best new Fragrance Houses this decade is the 1966 established Italian luxe leathergoods store Bottega Veneta. Their fabulous and world renowned craftmanship has followed them from their past into the modern fragrance range and I love everything they have released so far. Bottega Veneta Essence Aromatique is a perfect summer fragrance with its bright citrus/herbal opening that morphs into a sweet vanilla. Though it sweetens it maintains a lovely airy, fresh feel all the way through and will be a fabulous accompaniment to summer days spent enjoying your friends, family and fine food.

Burberry Brit by Burberry MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Burberry Brit by Burberry: Yes, all the way from 2003 Burberry Brit was designed for women but I think its sweet almond and vanilla goodness that has a fabulously fun fruity opening of pear and citrus works perfectly on both sexes. Though most people would be wearing Burberry Brit in winter I LOVE it in summer and think it blooms even better in the warmth. I know it’s the heart of Sydney summer when I’m reaching for my Burberry Brit and I love to wear it to indoor activities like movies, shopping, hanging around the house and night time dinner dates.

Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs: Usually the Marc Jacobs bottle shit me. I know, don’t stone me. This one is so freaking lovely though. The fragrance is fruits and flowers with a soft white musk & coconut dry down Daisy Dream seems to sink into your skin instead of blaring to the world. It starts out super fun, sweet and refreshing then leaves you very softly fragrant. This will be too simple and synthetic for many of the hard core perfumistas but as a lovely light spritz and go I think it an excellent summer choice for 2015. A perfect scent for the great outdoors, excellent picnic wear.

Escale a Parati by Christian Dior MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Escale a Parati by Christian Dior

I don’t know why but this DIOR, based on the coasts of Brazil, doesn’t get much recognition. I love it’s sexy salsa nights sizzle and eau de cologne style of warming through to a resinous and woody dry down. Lemon and leaves open with a spicy dash of cinnamon and a fizzy green mint. Escale a Parati will lift you up and carry you along in its fun party. When you spritz you too will be transported to the glamour and romance of a hot summer Brazillian evening. I find Escale a Parati everything fun about my holiday in Brazil daydreams. Beach, boating, fishing or eating al fresco.

Geranium Pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Geranium Pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle: You want to cool down? Summer making you sleepy and lethargic? Here is a bottle of instant air conditioning. Mint and geranium paired in perfect harmony, they are crisp and there is a definite frisson between them in Geranium pour Monsieur. Add to this a spicy heart of cinnamon and clove that will get your blood pumping, a fabulous dichotomy, and all this floats over a warm base of woodsy resins. Right through to the end though the minty geranium goodness is there to keep you cool, calm and collected. You will be surprised by how long through the day this burst of frostiness keeps pumping it’s cooling magic. Ladies, this should be called Geranium pour EVERYBODY.

Jardins de Bagatelle by Guerlain MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Jardins de Bagatelle by Guerlain: Guerlain is my favourite house of fragrance and Jardins de Bagatelle is a fragrance that makes heads turn. Though it is based on white flowers I never think of it as a Big White Floral. Jardins de Bagatelle is a soft focus white floral that is more about a sensationally beautiful bouquet of many flowers including roses, violets, orchids and ylang. Rich and buttery florals are all underpinned by fresh hewn woods, patchouli and vetiver. Perfectly balanced and a deliciously fun ride even now. If you need something elegant that will set you apart from the crowd this summer then my choice for you is Jardins de Bagatelle.

La Panthère by Cartier MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

La Panthère by Cartier: The scentbloggosphere has been going crazy over the new Cartier La Panthère. It has been hailed as the best designer offering of the decade so far. A fruity melange riding on a lovely white flower and animalic musk with hints of leather. A real nod to old school perfumery but set firmly in the 21st century. Perfumer Mathilde Laurent has a light touch with heavy fragrances, giving lift and joyous bounce where most others would give us only depth. A totally unisex designer fragrance for the most modern to wear all day and night.

Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford: So Tom Ford has been doing some extremely elegant eau de colognes of late. They are priced at the upper register of the department store offerings and considering their need to be refreshed every couple of hours are prohibitive. This one is the good stuff though. Imagine being transported to the dreamy Amalfi coast in perfect sun drenched weather, the sea breeze, a minty citrus cocktail, fresh salad and sunscreen. You are relaxed, on holidays and probably falling madly in love. This is what the most luxurious holidays smell like in my dreams, go on spritz again, it’s worth it.

Mimosa Pour Moi by L'Artisan Parfumeur MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Mimosa Pour Moi by L’Artisan Parfumeur: I love Mimosa Pour Moi. Dedicated to the cleanest and freshest bits of the mimosa. There are no back alley references and all thought of skin and flesh has been washed away. This simple and beautiful fragrance from 1992 is all about the waxy flowers, ivy and other green leaves and softly warmed through by vanilla. If you want to smell fresh and clean, crisp and focused then I suggest Mimosa Pour Moi. An excellent work fragrance too, you will be quietly fragrant.

Prada Candy Florale by Prada MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Prada Candy Florale by Prada: I have an admission. The original Prada Candy is nice, smells wonderful on other people and I think is beautifully crafted, sadly it smells awful on me. Prada Candy Florale though, with its lightness and addition of a soft focus bouquet is stellar. Rarely do I like a flanker more than its parent but in this case Prada has hit the nail on the head for me. Sparkling lemon fizzy, peony and a honeyed caramel finish that is crisp enough for summer wear and doesn’t have the heavy syrupiness of the original. Fabulous!

Summer Sampler comes with 3 assorted samples mentioned in post. An order must be placed, although, there is no minimum purchase requirement. Insert the code SUMMERVIBES into the Promo Code section at checkout.

Scent of the Day: Ombre de Hyacinth by Tom Ford

Ombre de Hyacinth by Tom Ford Fragrance Review

This fragrance is BIG, but a green-flowery-clean type of big. A soapy hyacinth fragrance that has one hell of a sillage. This is a great take on hyacinth and we give TF a round of applause for making this the perfect spring-summer unisex fragrance. The hyacinth is complemented by violet leaf, galbanum, pink peppers, and a veil of ultra soapy musk. If you are a fan of big, soapy fragrances then this is a must try. This is a feel good, relaxing scent that will have you smelling like a million bucks. It is sophisticated, classy, and may be well worth the price tag when you look at the powerful sillage and longevity of this fragrance.

A scent that can work on both masculine and feminine types alike and never drifts to one side more than the other. It is a refreshing blend of notes that create the feel of walking into a Beverly Hills flower shop in the summer. The air is hot and dry, but you feel refreshed and vibrant immediately after walking in and smelling all of the wonderful florals. This is how you will feel with Ombre de Hyacinth, except your flower shop will have an emphasis on hyacinth and will be drizzled with clean soapiness.

Scent of the Day: Sakura Cherry Blossom by Jo Malone Fragrance Review

Sakura Cherry Blossome by Jo Malone Perfume Review

Our scent of the day is an ultra feminine scent that will sparkle from spring to summer. It is a fully bloomed cherry blossom scent that dances, flirts and appeals. It opens with a bite of bergamot that settles into the main floral accord of cherry blossom, which then slowly dissipates into a haze of lightly floral musk. It’s a bit citrus, a bit powdery, a bit musky, and always fully floral. A scent you can imagine a ballerina or someone exotically feminine wearing. Something that screams spring and won’t be overbearing in warm weather. A great office scent that will stay close to the skin and never stray so far as to be a nuisance to any fellow coworkers.

Like most Jo Malone scents, this is not going to be a fragrance with a huge longevity and will need some reapplying if you plan to wear it alone. Although, since it is so lightweight it makes it a great fragrance for layering! Pair this baby with another scent to add a lightweight feminine touch or a powdery floral accord.

Samples start at $4.99

Scent of the Day: Jimmy Choo Blossom Perfume Review

Jimmy Choo Blossom Perfume Review

Jimmy Choo came out with this lightweight spring-summer frag in February 2015 and even though it is as simple as it is, it is also extremely enjoyable and fun. This is a raspberry-citrus blast, fizzing and smiling from the start. A fragrance that smells happy and is a perfect combo for a picnic or lunch date. Pair Jimmy Choo Blossom with some platform sandals and a long summer dress. This is a simple fragrance that will keep you smelling fresh, feminine, and fun under the sun.

This is a slightly sweet, girly and fruity fragrance that pairs great with hot weather. The opening is full of juicy citrus and red raspberries then you get subtle hints of sweet pea and rose with an ending of soft sandalwood and white musk. Although, this is citrusy and fresh ,Jimmy Choo made this fragrance to last. Expect to get whiffs of this baby on your skin for around 5 hours before it hits its end.

Portia’s 15 Must Smell Fragrances + Coupon Code!

Hey My Perfume Samples Crew,

It’s Portia from Australian Perfume Junkies, Perfume Posse and Olfactoria’s Travels and thrilled to be writing for one of my favourite Perfume Sample Sites. Over the next few months I hope to bring you some great information, maybe some ideas that you can use in your daily life, a selection of my favourite fragrances from the site and great ways and times to wear them.

If you like the look of something click the My Perfume Samples below the picture, it will take you directly to that perfumes page for more information, pricing and ordering.

15 Must Smell Fragrances

Portia's 15 Must Smell Fragrances

Scent is linked to the oldest receptors in your brain. No one is quite sure how the olfactory system works but we think it was developed to warn us of danger and to help us survive in a very unfriendly world. From that to modern perfumery is a long journey and since the beginning of modern perfumery which is generally thought to have begun with Fougere Royal by Houbigant in 1882 is pretty amazing too. They became the first company to isolate a particular molecule, coumarin, from natural raw materials, tonka bean, and then to use it in fragrance.

Today I have picked 15 fragrances that were game changers in their time or are the best of their kind in my mind and are still available today, though often changed over time to fit modern sensibilities or to comply with regulations. I have purposely picked 15 that I think have maintained quite a lot of what it was that made them great to begin with. This list is by no means a complete one, merely a sampler of a bunch of fragrances that I think you should smell and wear for a while to see how they live, it’s also nice to have a potted history for each.

Angel (EDT) by Thierry Mugler MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Angel by Thierry Mugler: 1992 and the enormous fragrances of the 1980s are starting to become old hat yet Thierry Mugler brings out a blockbuster, super enormous, powerhouse that has this incredible sugar sweet fruit, crunchy caramel & fairy floss scent that then ushers in the age of the gourmand scents.

Aromatics Elixir by Clinique MPS.jpgPhoto My Perfume Samples

Aromatics Elixir by Clinique: 1971 and Bernard Chant reworks his 1959 Cabochard and 1966 Aramis and finally reaches perfection. What went before are extremely dry and masculine, in Aromatics Elixir we see a softer flowering, some beautiful spices and the leather becomes more background. Still as beautiful today where the other two are vastly changed.

Dior Homme by Christian Dior MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Dior Homme by Christian Dior: In 2011 Francois Demachy reinterpreted Olivier Polge’s 2005 lavender/iris/choc/patchouli fragrance in a new and interesting way. The notes are similar but the original iris overload has been toned down slightly and a woodier base runs through, it is still a beautiful fragrance that is extremely unisex and smells wonderful on everyone.

Dune by Christian Dior MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Dune by Christian Dior: It’s 1991 and Dune imagines the fragrance of the last few moments at the beach after a long day, wet, sandy, sweet and salty. I smell suntan lotion, sea, sunshine, grasses, warm skin, wind, seaweed, sweat and lip gloss. Dune shimmers and glistens across my skin and started the mainstream summertime sunshine fragrance craze while still managing to also smell completely and only of itself.

Eau D'Orange Verte by Hermes MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Eau d’Orange Verte by Hermes: Originally created in 1979 by Françoise Caron, in 2009 Jean-Claude Ellena remade the fragrance to bring it up to date and have it comply with current regulations. Eau d’Orange Verte is still one of the best Eau de Colognes available on the market and worth a sniff.

Fracas by Robert Piguet MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Fracas by Robert Piguet: Originally released in 1948, Germaine Cellier recreated this white floral extravaganza in 1998 and it is the benchmark tuberose fragrance for many people. A sweet, bubble gum tuberose only lightly shadowed by green sappiness and with a monster sillage initially that turns very sensually soft, melts in your skin and becomes almost you.

Gucci Rush by Gucci MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Gucci Rush by Gucci: In 1999 Gucci brought out this sheer but incredibly powerful super fragrance that can cut through the atmosphere around you and bring men to their knees. One of the first mainstream fruit-chouli fragrances to have this weird sheer heft, it has become one of the signatures of 21st century scents. Gucci Rush is a party waiting to happen.

Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka: In 1997 Lolita Lempicka brought out a licorice fragrance, it took the world by storm in its cutesy apple bottle so reminiscent of Dior’s Poison but taken to the next level and Disney-ised. The fragrance is an ultra gourmand powerhouse and one of the best of its genre. Still wearable and current nearly 20 years later I often gift Lolita Lempicka and it is always appreciated.

M:Mink by Byredo MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

M/Mink by Byredo: If you want to smell the weirdest beautiful thing then this could be your frag. 2010s M/Mink smells like you’ve stuck your head into an old thrift shop fur coat and it’s right next to a junkie alley. Freaky stuff but strangely it all works together to create something uncannily gorgeous. Nothing else smells like M/Mink.

Mure et Musc by L'Artisan Parfumeur MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Mure et Musc by L’Artisan Parfumeur: In 1978 L’Artisan Perfumer was already doing the fruity floral with a white musk dry down. Berries, citrus and musk with a mossy backnote. Basically if you wear this you will understand where all those Fruit-Chouli celebuscents came from. Obviously Mure et Musc is WAY more gorgeous and stylish.

Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle: In 2010 Dominique Ropion created this beautiful, ornate masterpiece for the Frederic Malle line. It is like a baroque artwork made fragrance and quite big but somehow never oversteps the boundaries into 1980s blockbuster. This is what the use of incredibly expensive ingredients and the lightest and most nuanced touch can create.

Premier Figuier by L'Artisan Parfumeur MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Premier Figuier by L’Artisan Parfumeur: Olivia Giacobetti created Premier Figuier, the first fig soliflor (Solifruit??) fragrance in 1994 and it tells the story of the whole tree, fruit, leaf and branch. Since then fig has become a shining star in the fragrance world but it is Premier Figuier that I return to again and again. It has a creaminess set against a sharp greenness that is captivating.

Shalimar by Guerlain MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Shalimar by Guerlain: Launched in 1925 from a huge accidental overdose of vanilla, the story goes. Shalimar has been in the Top 10 lists of fragrances ever since. A delicious creamy lemon gelato swirl set against a very animal growl. I like the EdP of the current formulations, it has excellent lasting power and it’s projection and sillage are grand, you will be able to smell your gorgeous sensual self most of the day.

Tresor EdP by Lancome MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Tresor by Lancome: In 1990 this freaky, screechy, fruity floral oriental was born. It took Mitsouko and Femme by the balls and shook them till their teeth rattled and this modern, clean lined fragrance came into being. Still one of my favourite scents to smell on people in the street, Tresor is one of a kind. I have chosen the EdP because it’s just a little richer.

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor: Elizabeth Taylor was the first celebrity to really make fragrance work on a huge scale. Still often seen in the top 10 sales White Diamonds is a powerhouse fragrance that started the era of the CelebuScent and made Elizabeth even richer. Glorious, fun and completely over the top. You probably don’t want to wear this to dinner, it’s BIG.

You may have smelled a few of these in passing over the years but we thought it might be fun to have a reference set all in one place that you could spend a few weeks really remembering or learning how each one smells and seeing how today’s fragrances have evolved from them.

OMG! The Panty Dropper

OMG! The Panty Dropper

OMG! The Panty Dropper

OK, so today I thought we’d go for some extremely tongue in cheek sexy frags, personally I think anyone who speaks of Panty Dropper Perfumes seriously is probably a misogynist and the only pants that get dropped are probably their own, alone. Thinking that by spritzing yourself with a fragrance will lead people to you and force them to have sex with you when it would normally be against their will is juvenile and yucky, go and wash your mind out with antiseptic soap.

Having said that I am 100% sure that smelling right can be a great help in MEETING people that you might like to have in your life for a moment or a while. Back in the good old days I used to follow men around in bars just to swim in the sillage of their Le Male and at different points in my life if you were wearing Tuscany, L’eau d’Issey or Obsession then you would much more readily get my attention. Maybe we need to change the vocabulary so it doesn’t seem like you are wearing fragrance to commit a hate crime, let’s make it sound like something that really could lead to love. What about Interest Enhancers, Attention Getters, Promoters or Siren Calls? Naah, still too desperate sounding. Joiners? Sparkers? Connectors? That sounds cool and equal interest. OK, for today let’s call them Connector Scents. Once you’ve made the connection, you still have to have a correlating set of attractive-to-that-person traits and the ability to hold a decent conversation to get you anything else that might be on your mind. I’ll give you a couple of hints people, if in our first 24 hours of meeting you are mean spirited, speak with your mouth full or have poor hygiene than we probably won’t be continuing.

Body Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Body Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent: The original was ubiquitous in clubs in the 1980s and I admit that I too adored it. A screaming hit of masculinity that often dwarfed its wearer. Body Kouros has all the sex appeal of its father but does it subtly and without fanfare. One of the few fragrances to use eucalyptus and pairing it with incense creates a dreamy waft of masculinity poured over fresh hewn woods and resins. It’s very rare for me to classify a fragrance into sex brackets but I can’t even imagine a woman wearing Body Kouros, though I’d love to smell it. A bewitching scent that will definitely help with connecting.

Cartier Essence D'Orange by Cartier MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Cartier Essence D’Orange by Cartier: Want to smell fresh and fun, light and interesting? Cartier have put together a lovely cologne style scent that has a citrus clean zing right through its life but as it ages it adds the interest of woods and a hint of smoke. Want to smell really good but not at a high octane level? Don’t need to overtake the world with your scent but only have those close to you lean in a little closer? Want the connection with someone already in your circle or want it to happen at work? Cartier Essence D’Orange is a really good choice.

Fleur Du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Fleur Du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier: Citrus with a herbal blast that is simple yet somehow manages to smell really complex. Here is a fragrance for the thinkers among you, a clever mans fragrance that is so left of center that it will ultimately invite attention. A male marketed orange blossom, beefed up by basil and chamomile and though no one mentions it I get sweet vanilla and sensual musks too. Jean Paul Gaultier is famous for making excellent and unusual fragrance, Fleur du Male is no exception and it smells beautiful on the ladies too.

Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle: Want to smell like a beast in the jungle, a crazy sensual animal lover that is powerful and wildly attractive? Musc Ravageur is all that and a furry teddy bear too. Juggling the very interesting polarities of fierce and protective with warm and comforting I love to smell this on the guys and girls. It is intense and alluring and with a fun attitude or winning smile it will be a great under the radar connector. Stealth allure!

Premier Figuier by L'Artisan Parfumeur MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Premier Figuier by L’Artisan Parfumeur: Sweet, milky, delicious dreams of fig. Not just the fruit or jam made from the fruit but the leaf and branch as well. Here is a daring scent for both sexes that combines citrus, woods, coconut and fig. A creamy smooth scent that is almost mouth watering and mixed with a fun attitude and a little bit of dance floor sweat is very, very sexy. Another upside is that you will smell a little different to most others around.

Samsara by Guerlain MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Samsara by Guerlain: Another incredible inviting fragrance aimed at women but also killer on the guys. Ylang ylang, citrus, sandalwood and amber built in the most lavish and spellbinding way. Lasting power is excellent and projection superb. Need to stand out from the crowd and smell really good into the wee morning hours. This is your pick then. Go ahead, spritz with abandon, people will be following in your wake just to swim in your sillage.

Tabarome by Creed MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Tabarome by Creed: Here is my favourite of the Creed stable, a crisp zesty opening leads to spicy ginger and then the whole lot is engulfed in leather and sweet honeyed tobacco. Want to smell like a modern incarnation of a ranch hand? In my imagination this is what a cowboy smells like, but a Wall Street cowboy. A person who is on the rise or risen, who commands themselves and thus others, someone who is solid and dependable but who hides a wild side. Smells excellent on the gents but ladies take my advice, this one is so freaking amazing on you too.

Terre d'Hermes Parfum by Hermes MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

Terre d’Hermes Parfum by Hermes: Citrus and earth, add to this the smell of confidence and you have a killer combination. Terre d’Hermes smells subtly different on everyone and I have never tried it on any of my friends and had it smell less than gorgeous. Marketed for men but on the ladies it is equally as lovely. Excellent projection too, even though it’s not a big scent, you will be noticed.

Xs by Paco Rabanne MPSPhoto My Perfume Samples

XS by Paco Rabanne: This killer fragrance from 1993 flew under my radar for over a decade, then somewhere in the mid 2000s I smelled it on 6 or 7 people in a very short space of time and commented positively. It was uncanny. Maybe they did a reformulation that suddenly clicked with me. Whatever happened nowadays I can pick XS out from a crowd and still love to smell it wafting past me in the street. It’s fresh spicy woodsiness all melts perfectly over a deep fluffy, cuddleworthy bed of vanilla & musk.
