Scent of the Day: Noir Pour Femme by Tom Ford Perfume Review

Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme Perfume Review

Tom Ford’s Noir Pour Femme is one of those ‘fumes that you spray on your wrist and can’t stop sniffing all day long. It is addicting, seductive, alluring, extravagant… A staple scent that should be included in any Floriental lover’s perfume collection. When it comes to autumn floral-oriental type scents I’ve always been drawn to Armani Code for women, but this has become a new favorite. It is deeper and darker and has a side that is seductive yet completely sophisticated and mature. It has a sweet creaminess that makes it great for the holiday season and you are less likely to run into others wearing your same scent, like you might with Armani Code. Tom Ford’s Noir Pour Femme has met all expectations and attracts fascination from the top to the bottom notes.

Noir Pour Femme opens with a splash of zesty citruses and a touch of ginger then blooms into a powerful heart of rose, jasmine, orange blossom and kulfi. The base is warm and sweet with vanilla, amber and sandalwood that cling to the skin hours after you’ve spritzed. This scent has a great longevity and was built to last during the cooler season. You only need a few sprays and you’ll be smelling sweet all day!

5 Scents For School

2016-08-22-1

Dreading the new school year and everything that comes along with it? You’ve spent the whole summer munching ice cream on the couch, binge watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix and living in your swim suit and now it’s time to pick up the pace and focus on your school work. Instead of dreading the new school year, let’s think of going to class as an excuse to get ready. Brush your hair, throw on some glossy lip balm and spritz yourself with perfume. When you look good and smell good, you feel good! You want your classmates to thank you for covering the stench of the guy who just came from gym, but you don’t want them hating you for spraying an obtrusive, unbearable scent. Some fragrances may be too strong or too sweet for a class room setting, but we’ve got the perfect 5 that will get you through the semester.

  1. Si Eau de Toilette by Giorgio Armani

Si Eau de Toilette

The Eau de Parfum version may have been a little too strong for a class room setting, but the Eau de Toilette version is perfect for close quarters. It is fresher, a bit lighter and totally bearable. Spray one or two spritz and you are good to go. This is refreshing, lightly floral and fruity, with just a touch of vanilla and patchouli. A young and fun scent that is also delicate and feminine.

2. Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone

wood sage & sea salt by jo malone review

For something that goes great in fall, but is also reminiscent of the days you spent at beach this summer, you could try Wood Sage & Sea Salt. This is refreshing, sweet and earthy salt air in a bottle. It is cozy, warm and sensuous. It stays close to the skin and reminds us of lazy days by the sea. Try spraying on your clothes for better longevity.

3. CK2 by Calvin Klein

ck2

CK2 is the newest “gender-free” fragrance from Calvin Klein and is aimed at millennials. This is a relaxed and easy going scent with unusual notes of pebbles, violet leaf, and wasabi that blend together with earthy woods for a calm and airy scent. This is pleasant and refreshing, perfect for the classroom.

4. Pure Soap by Demeter

pure soap

For those days when you are running late and don’t have time to refresh. Not to fear, because pure soap is here and it will freshen you right up. Demeter fragrances are singular scents and literally smell like their names, so you know you will smell like you have just stepped out of the shower with this quick pick me up scent.

5. Lovely Sheer by Sarah Jessica Parker

lovelysheer

A lighter, cleaner, greener version of the original Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. This is inoffensive and airy, starting off with sparkling citrus and developing into light and creamy white florals and woods. The dry down leaves you with a delicate skin scent of florals and clean musk.

Scent of the Day: I Am Juicy Couture Perfume Review

I Am Juicy Couture Perfume Review

I am Juicy Couture is a new perfume launched in summer 2015, aimed at the wild and independent “millennial” generation. This concoction opens smelling a bit like Viva La Juicy and then twists itself into a fresh floral with touches of sweetness. It is sweet, but fresh and will work in typically any season that you want it to. If you are a lover of sweet fragrances, but want something a little lighter for the season then give I Am Juicy Couture a try. This is definitely a young and playful scent. A fun scent that would be perfect for a girls night out or a quirky date at the fair.

This composition opens with sweet raspberries and passionfruit then settles into a floral bouquet of gardenia, heliotrope, rose and sweet pea. The base holds this baby together with musk, woods, and amber. A delightful and young fragrance for lovers of sweets and florals alike. A scent that isn’t wimpy or dull and will last hours on the skin without respraying.

Samples start at $2.49

Scent of the Day: Plum Blossom by Jo Malone Fragrance Review

Jo Malone Plum Blossom Fragrance Review

Our scent of the day is an interpretation of the plum blossom by Jo Malone. This gives us sharp, bright, and crisp plum blossoms with a background of musk and sandalwood. This is very floral and feminine, perfect for a spring or summer day date. This fragrance is reminiscent to Chloe, but without the emphasis on rose. It is delightful, simple, and soft for an everyday summer scent. It can work for any occasion from date nights to office wear. A versatile floral fragrance that sits on your skin like a veil. Never fully clothing your body, but adding it’s own floral flare here and there.

This is a cologne, so it won’t last hours and hours. Some spritzing throughout the day or layering with another fragrance is highly recommended. This works well to tone down other scents that may be too sweet or syrupy for summer wear. Plum blossom adds a burst of fresh, sharp florals that are sure to make it feel a little more like summer.
